the day of the attack
On November 3, 2020, the cousins were already gathered on the porch of the house in Arizona. They were touching up their nails while chatting about love or the near future. Maybe going to a party in the area. Koury took a selfie for her Instagram and noticed a small pimple near her mouth and touched up the image of her before uploading it. A small gesture that spoke of the perfection with which she treated the image of her as her model.
The girls were in the kitchen and Brooklinn walked over to her cousin’s dog, an 8 year old pitbull named Diesel. I already knew the animal from other previous visits and had a special affection.
“I would pet him and say, ‘You’re a good boy.’ He literally jumped from sitting to being on my face, ”Brooklinn recalls in an interview with People magazine.

“I was standing, and he was sitting, he just jumped. And he was literally hanging from my lip. And my first instinct was like, ‘Oh my God, get down on the ground.’ Finally, I felt a release. And then something flew and hit the wall.” explains the girl about the day that changed her life.
After the attack, his entire mouth was pure blood. “I looked down and my whole shirt was just blood, blood everywhere,” Brooklinn recounts almost without flinching and with the memory still on the surface.
The girl recalled that the animal “shaked its head like a toy” and eventually removed all of its upper lip and parts of its nose.
Hardly past the first shock of the attack, Brooklinn saw a pink lump on the ground and she realized it was her lip due to the presence of the pimple she had just clipped from her selfie. She wrapped it in a napkin and went with her cousin to a hospital. Meanwhile, Diesel huddled in a corner of the house without understanding much.
Despite his quick response, surgeons were unfortunately unable to save Khoury’s upper lip.
A month before the November 2020 dog attack, Khoury was featured in a Vogue article about female skaters, a huge moment for an influencer who at the time had only 13,000 followers.
life as an influencer
Her modeling career came to a halt after her physical changes, but Khoury remained very active on Instagram. He would post skating tricks in the air, with a bandage on his face or a hand covering his nose and bruised mouth area.
So, the model began to live her new life. She struggled to accept herself with the new physiognomy of her face, despite the shocked looks from the people who passed her on the street. “The first time I saw myself after surgery it was terrifying – recalls the girl. But I said ‘okay, time to love this new version of myself for now.’ I want people to know that they are not alone if they are going through something like this.”
That November 3, 2020, Khoury was enthusiastically preparing to film her first major television commercial. She would go surfing and skateboarding in front of the camera. But while he was visiting his family in Arizona, his relative’s dog pounced on his face.
She was left alone in the hospital for three days. due to COVID-19 restrictions. His then-agent asked if he would “get over” the accident and shoot the commercial. She said no.
The Brooklinn fight has been going on for more than two years in which he has tried several surgeries to recover part of his facial expressions. 12 months after the bites of Diesel, her cousin’s pitbull dog, the young woman reflected on her social networks.
“Exactly one year ago my life changed completely. This attack taught me to truly love myself inside and out, regardless of what people have to say. It taught me that society places high standards on beauty, but the reality is that we are all beautiful in our own way. I’ve learned to be patient with how people react to my story. He taught me to love, even when I didn’t feel it from others. It showed me how precious life is,” the girl wrote.
After the incident, Brooklinn often thought she would never be able to smile again. In fact, she had forgotten what his smiling face looked like. Every once in a while she went back to review the photos of her before the attack to recognize herself as that girl pending the image and that she dreamed of reaching Hollywood.
“It’s crazy how your life can change so dramatically in a split second. – he wrote in other of his viral Instagram posts-. I’m trying to stay as positive as possible about this whole situation, but I’ll be honest, I’m scared about my future, or if I’ll ever be able to eat normally again.”
Brooklinn uses her Instagram account to showcase herself and inspire others with similar issues. “It’s crazy how many people have reached out to share their stories and experiences. Dog attacks happen a lot more than I had imagined. I am not here sharing my story to put a bad light on any dog or breed of dog. I’m just here to share what happened to me and make someone going through something similar feel less alone.”
never again a pitbull
Following the attack, her cousin’s pitbull dog was euthanized. “I know many people who have this breed of animal. They absolutely love their dogs, and would swear they would never hurt anyone. I saw cute pitbulls, but I also met my cousin’s pet, who was cute but ended up attacking me,” the model highlighted. So for me, owning a pitbull would probably be like having a loaded gun; You really don’t know what’s going to happen. That’s why I would never have one.”
Thus, the girl had her fame within Instagram. In that social network it is shown without filters, He writes inspiring messages and tells how he tries to rebuild his face every day with multiple operations.
In these almost three years it reached 285 thousand followers and the Diesel attack that disfigured her face made her a celebrity, an influencer. Maybe that way the road to Hollywood will be shorter. She started earning around $1,000 per sponsored post and landed a ton of major brand deals with companies like DC Shoes.
Brooklinn even opened its own YouTube channelwhere she documented her road to recovery, and her first video garnered nearly 250,000 views and has more than 100,000 subscribers.
In October of last year, Brooklinn revealed that he was dating former Dance Moms star Chloe Lukasiak. She did it like everything in his life through Instagram. The girl posted an image of both of them holding her hand.
After several attempts, Brooklinn underwent reconstructive surgery. During the procedure, doctors will use the artery in your arm and the skin on her body to create tissue that looks like a lip. It cost about $400,000 and will require at least five follow-up surgeries.
“All went well. The nerve, the tissue, the skin, everything is fine, alive and healing, which is really good and rare,” said the girl after the first intervention.
The 22-year-old admitted that many people told her not to post videos or photos of her face because of ‘the way she looks’. But she decided that she wanted to be open at every step of the process, so that she could help other people who might be going through something similar. Thus, with her new face already presented in society, Brooklinn grows on social networks and her dream of being a celebrity is getting closer to her. Something unthinkable on November 3, 2020, when the pit bull attacked her at her cousin’s house in Arizona.
